EDITORIAL ACTIVITY

Prof. Rimessi is Editor board member for Frontiers in Oncology, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology and for Biomedicines.
Prof. Rimessi routinely acts as reviewer for international scientific journals (Nature Communications, Cell Death and Differentiation, Cell Calcium, BBA, Molecular & Cellular Oncology, Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry, Frontiers Oncology, Cell Death and Disease).

- Referee for the ANVUR VQR 2011-14.

Reviewer for the call for proposal:

-“Blue Sky Research” of University of Pavia, Italy.

-“Joint Project 2017” of University of Verona, Itay.

-“Call competitive project 2017” University of Firenze, Italy.

MAIN RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Alessandro Rimessi has obtained a degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in molecular medicine in one of the best cell biology laboratory in Italy. During his undergraduate laboratory work he has studied the role of Protein Kinase C (PKC) in oxidative stress and in his graduate work: the role of some calcium effectors in apoptosis induction. The outstanding quality of his work led him to obtain the “International Human Frontier Science Program, long-term fellowships award” in addition to an outstanding publication record. His current projects are focused to:

- Understanding the role of particular isoform of PKC in chemoresistance and of specific oncogene or oncosuppressor in tumor maintenance.

- Understanding the role of mitochondrial quality control machinery to decode the pro-inflammatory signals in Cystic Fibrosis.

At today, Prof.. Rimessi has acquired expertise in mitochondrial stress responses (autophagy/UPR/apoptosis), molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, Ca2+ signaling, cancer biology and digital imaging.
