EDUCATION

1988: Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Ferrara, with honors. Dissertation title: "Ossidazione di Fe(II)Cit c da parte dell'ossigeno. Produzione di radicali", Tutor Prof. A. Ferri.

1989: Qualifying examination to the biologist register, performed at the University of Ferrara.

1994: P.h.D. in Medical Embriology. Dissertation title: "Identificazione ed espressione dell'oncogene Antigene T in neoplasie umane dell'età pediatrica ed adulta", Tutor Prof. P. Carinci

1994-1999: technician at the Department of Morphology and Embriology, Histology section, University of Ferrara.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES

1989: Institute of Pathology, University of Ferrara, Research Program: “Isolation of calcium binding proteins from rat brain and liver microsomal preparations”.

1990 - 1993: Institute of Histology, University of Ferrara. Studies concerning cellular and molecular biology, cell differentiation processes and human oncology. Reserach Program: “Identification and expression of the T-Antigen oncogene deived from the polyomavirus BK in human tissues and tumors”.

1994 - : studies on the biology of connective tissues, mainly focused on cell proliferation, differentiation and metabolysm of bone and cartilage tissue, analysis of effects of biochemical and physical agents on tissues. Research Program: “Effects of electromagnetic field exposure on connective tissues”.

2008-2012: in vitro studies concerning the modulation of inflammatory activities in articular diseases, with particular attention to the role of synovial and cartilage tissues. Analysis and regulation of chondrocytes and synovial fibroblasts inflammatory activities by physical stimuli.

2012-:- identification of a potential role of electromagnetic fields exposure in regenerative medicine. Research Program: “Effects of Bone morphogenetic proteins and pulsed electromagnetic field exposure on chondrogenic and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.

2012: Participation to the COST TD 1104 “European network for development of electroporation-based technologies and treatments”.

 

AWARDS

2007: Award of Excellence by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The study was conducted by four Universities (Ferrara, Bologna, Modena-Reggio Emilia and Pavia) and three Medical Centres (Negrar, Roma and Sassuolo).
